As a result of Governor Whitmer's June 1, 2020 announcement, we are one step closer to opening our doors to Y members. While it looks like we will not be able to open the doors of our facilities until around July 4th, we will begin our reopening program phase the week of June 8.
This will simply begin with offering outdoor tennis in Portage and outdoor group exercise programs.
Please stay tuned for details on our registration and reservation process, which will be forthcoming.
Beginning June 15th we will open day camp at both our Maple Street and Portage locations for those families that have enrolled. (Enrollment is currently full.)
These may seem like baby steps but let's not forget how monumental a baby's first steps can be. This is our first step back to hopefully some sense of normality. We are truly excited to begin to welcome you all back. Thanks again for sticking with us!
We urge you to support the Y and help us continue delivering vital programs and services to the community, by keeping your membership active during this crisis. Even while our membership branches are closed, YMCA staff are playing a role in serving vulnerable populations in Kalamazoo and Portage and assisting those who need us most during these unprecedented times. Unless you specify otherwise, the portion of your membership fees paid by bank draft/credit card during our closure will be regarded as a donation that will enable us to meet the critical needs of those who rely on the YMCA. Upon request, you will receive a gift acknowledgment letter for tax purposes. If you do not wish for us to recognize your dues as a donation, please let us know and the remaining balance will be credited to your account and can be used for future charges.
Programs: In accordance with our standard policy on class cancellations, a prorated credit will be posted to your account for the unused portion if you paid for a program that was canceled before its completion.
If there are any changes as the coronavirus impact continues to develop we will keep you informed.
Questions about these policies can be addressed by calling our Welcome Center at 269-345-9622 (Maple St.) or 269-324-9622 (Portage). Staff members are operating the phones daily, but due to the large volume of calls, it may take 24-48 hours to return your call, particularly for messages left on a weekend.
